Success Stories : Regional University Hospital Network - Microsoft Exchange Migration

Business Challenge

The 1800 enterprise mail users at one of the Midwest's largest and most prestigious university hospitals needed a tool to improve network communications, manage large distribution lists, and provide a more reliable mail system. To facilitate the flow of information between the 10 locations within this hospital network, there was a clear common directive: convert the existing mail system to one that would provide common calendars, E-mail, and scheduling. Cleaning up this mail system and integrating the multiple-platform mail servers was mission-critical.

Applomatic's Solution

Applomatic partnered with this healthcare provider to develop strategic planning and detailed design of their mail system. To alleviate the lack of centralized control and provide a mail migration that would be scalable enough to meet the hospital's expansion plans, plus diverse user and technical needs, Microsoft Exchange was chosen to replace Microsoft Mail. Using our proprietary, five-stage methodology for reliably developing innovative eBusiness solutions, the Applomatic Process™, Applomatic built a solid messaging foundation. Applomatic provided project management, planning, design, and implementation services as indicated below:

  • Development of the Microsoft Exchange messaging design
  • Migrating POP3 clients from UNIX to Microsoft Exchange Server
